It was really enjoyable and rewarding  AA Ireland employees find some great ways to bond, and we have a very active Sports & Social Committee that is always coming up with inventive ways for the team to get together.

This past weekend, AA staff from across every department in the business got together to climb Sugarloaf under the guidance of @wicklowmountainsguide

Just a quick line to say thanks to Damien for organising another beautiful hike. This sunday we did a hike of Kanturk & Scarr Mountain in Wicklow. Despite the weather at the beginning of hike I thoroughly enjoyed it!!  It’s just great to be out again. Damien is hugely experienced, knowledgeable and passionate regarding each hike he does. Aloha, My friend and I traveled 2 Ireland to hike The Wicklow Way. It was a bucket list trip 4 me! We stayed at The Loughdan House with Sean and Theresa. I had planned 4 us 2 hike South to North in 8 days. We were to have a guide . We met Damien Kennedy on our 1st day. He led us on 6 of the 8 days through The Wicklow Way. I would say we r novice hikers in International hiking. Damien is a great guide, he is very knowledgeable of this area! Everyday he was with us from beginning to end rain or shine or fog! Different terrain and challenges for 2 women from Hawaii. 7000 miles from our tiny island. Beautiful terrain and he he gave points of interest. I had read the book and never imaged how beautiful this area is. Damien made this trip very memorable and I would not hesitate to return and use his expertise to hike other places. We even made it 2 four pubs and learned to drink pints of Guinness! It is great that Sean and Theresa at Loughdan House use Damien as a guide. Mahalo from The 50th State.

Highly recommend this guided walk, Glendalough is a beautiful area.. The guide considered the different abilities of the group. Kept spirits high in the mist rain and was very informative of the area.. good craic had by all. Altogether a great experience.

Damien – Wicklow Mountains Guide

Maulin Mountain & Powerscourt Waterfall

This guided hike will take us through a mix of trails & open mountain side.Taking in the fantastic Powerscourt Waterfall and Maulin Mountain and sections of the Wicklow Way.
Plenty of chats & stories along the way about the area.

Distance – 13km Loop. Terrain – Trails & Open mountain side. Grade – moderate.

Hiking boots, Waterproof gear, Hiking clothing
hat gloves, Sunscreen, Hat, Lunch snacks water 1.5L. Any medications you may need.

This guided hike is 30 euro per person.

Damien – Wicklow Mountains Guide

Camenabologue & Table Mountains
Jun 8 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Meeting point Baravore Carpark Glenmalure.
10am start time – Finish Approx 4 pm.
Location sent on booking.

Camenabologue (Irish: Céim na mBulóg, meaning ‘step or pass of the bullocks’

Leaving the car park we will take the Table Mountain Track route to Camenabologue Mountain which will be our first Summit of the day. With a lunch break at the summit, at 758 metres (2,487 ft), Fantastic views of Lugnaquilla and surrounding mountains from here ( Weather Permitting).
After lunch we’ll take in the summit of Table Mountain is a 702-metre (2,303 ft).
From here we’ll take a mix of trails on our return to the carpark.

Grade – Moderate
Terrain – Mix of trails & bog.
Distance – 16km

This Guided Hike is 30 euro per person.

What you need to bring.
hiking clothing, hiking boots, hiking waterproof gear, gloves hat, gaiters, hiking poles optional.
lunch snacks water 1.5L.

Derrybawn Ridge & Cullentragh

Meeting point. Free carpark Laragh Village, Co Wicklow. Beside the Gaa Grounds.
Time 9:45am

This Guided Hike will have a mix of woodland trails , open mountain side. With stunning views of Glendalough Valley as we reach Derrybawn Summit. As we cross the ridge we will see our next summit at Cullentragh Mountain. A short break here. Before we make our way down to Glenmalure Valley with a few hidden gems along the way.
We will have approx 45 min at the Glenmalure Lodge before our pick up.

Grade – Moderate
Distance – 15 km
Terrain – Woodland trails & Open Mountain

This Guided Hike is €35 per person.
Transport provided for us to return to Laragh.

What you need to bring.
Good hiking boots, hiking clothing, waterproof gear, sun screen, water 1:5L lunch snacks.
Any medication you may need.
